The College Process

There are a lot of different resources to help students throughout the college process. Students and parents can also contact Mr. Chun (chunaa@u4sd.org) if they would like to set up an appointment to talk about the college process. Please look at the other tabs under "The College Process" for other resources as well.

Supermatch on Naviance

This tool will help you find what colleges are you there, based on what you are looking for in a school! You can access your Naviance account by going to this link (email Mr. Chun at chunaa@u4sd.org for your account information, and use this video to help you log in), and you can see how you can use this tool with the video to the right.

Common App

Each year, more than 1 million students apply to more than 900 Common App member colleges worldwide through their online college application platform. Using this application can be an efficient way to apply to multiple schools, including all of the state universities (University of Illinois, Eastern Illinois University, Illinois State University, etc.). You can sign up for an account by going to their website.

What Application May Require:

  • List of Extracurricular Activities 

  • GPA/Transcript 

  • Essay

  • Letters of Recommendations 

  • Test Scores 

  • Demographic Information 

  • Portfolio (for Arts majors) 

  • Interview

Test Optional

There are a variety of colleges and universities that are test-optional in terms of admissions. This means that an applicant is not required to submit a test score to be considered for admission to that institution. A list of schools that are test-optional can be found on this website.

Principal's Scholars

The Principal’s Scholars Program (PSP) is a University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign math and science initiative, designed to prepare underrepresented students for college.

The PSP Virtual Website will offer tools, resources and educational websites for 6th-12th grade that students, parents and school personnel can offer as activities during the COVID-19 school closures. Always continue to check our Virtual Learning Environment. Information will be updated frequently.

The Principal's Scholars Program invites and encourages all 6-12 grade students, who resides in the State of Illinois, to participate in the PSP Virtual Learning Environment. PSP looks forward to working with interested students!

Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC)

The Illinois Student Assistance Commission is a state organization that helps Illinois high school students and families with the college application process, including financial aid, finding the right fit, and many more important issues. Please contact Mr. Chun (chunaa@u4sd.org) to set up an appointment with Centennial's ISAC representative. You can visit ISAC websites by clicking on this link.
